50th Anniversary of the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Commission, LPC has launched www.landmarks.nyc, a new website highlighting a year-long series of digital features and free or low cost events at landmark sites throughout New York City. The website also feature slide shows from our historic photo archives, blog posts on New York City landmarked buildings, and walking tours of historic sites throughout the city.

The 50th anniversary of the Commission will be celebrated in partnership with landmark sites in all five boroughs, the Landmarks Preservation Foundation, and the Museum of the City of New York, where an exhibition co-sponsored by the Commission, “Saving Place: 50 Years of New York City Landmarks,” will be on view from April 21st to September 13th.

Notification of Sidewalk Shed Removal

Under the 2014 NYC Construction Codes, new notification requirements are in effect for sidewalk shed removals. For more information, see 2014 NYC Building Code §3307.6.5.11.

50th Anniversary of ICOMOS

Pamela Jerome, AIA, FAPT, LEED AP was one of four international experts who participated in a roundtable entitled, “How can international cooperation contribute to addressing the main challenges faced by heritage conservation, and what is ICOMOS’ role,” as part of the 50th Anniversary of ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) on March 10, 2015 in Paris, France.
